Board of Directors

Our Board of Directors is responsible for Mukti's overall performance and compliance, providing strategic direction, effective governance and leadership on behalf of members and supporters.

President - Rev Dr Rowland Ward
BA, DipTh, BTh (Hons), ThD.

Rowland is a retired Minister in the Presbyterian Church of Eastern Australia. Prior to that he was an Insurance broker/loss assessor.

Vice-President - Glenda Cresswick B Ed.

Glenda is our Overseas Development Advisor assisting Mukti in developing its community development work and project management. A trained teacher, Glenda was formerly the Overseas Projects Manager for The Leprosy Mission Australia and The Leprosy Mission International (SE Asia) prior to her retirement. Glenda spends time assisting at Mukti in India each year.

Treasurer - Claire Harris
BA, BComm, Chartered Accountant

Claire has worked as an accountant in public practice for 8 years. She has an active interest in mission and served as a Mission Treasurer with SIM in Benin, West Africa for two years.

Karen Crawford
DipT B(Adult Learning and Development)

Recently retired as principal of a VET training college, Karen’s work included mentoring programs and skills training for school refusers and training youth workers. Together with her husband Peter, Karen served in parish ministry for 40 years with strong ties to CMS Australia.

Ross Hohl
B App Sc, Grad Dip Arch, Grad Dip Div, FRAIA, JP

Ross is a self employed architect doing work for various Christian Schools, Camp Sites and Retirement and Aged Care Facilities in South East Queensland. Ross has assisted Mukti India with a master plan for residential Family Homes and Aged Care buildings in Elim Gardens.

Louise Blakston B Ed

Louise is married with 5 children and has a B Ed (Primary Teaching). She has a keen interest in overseas development and mission, and has visited various projects around the world.

Our staff

The staff at Mukti Australia provides expertise, skills and a high level of commitment to ensure we are doing the best we can to positively impact the lives of the women and children at Mukti India.

Glenda de Jager - National Director
BTh (mission studies), DipSS

Glenda leads the team as National Director of Mukti Australia. She also takes an active part in Missions Interlink, both on a state and national level which contributes to her understanding of the missions scene across Australia.

Peter Warren - Western Australia and Northern Territory Director (part time)

Peter and Kathryn have been a great asset since joining Mukti in late 2012. Coming from a background in the Leprosy Mission, they both have a great love for India and her people. Peter has been able to introduce many more people in WA and NT to the work of Mukti. We share Peter with Missions Interlink in WA as well.

Helen Walker - Accounts (part time)

Helen is an experienced book-keeper and brings a cheerful presence to our happy working team. She visited Mukti in India early in 2014.

Lee-Ann D'Cruz - Sponsorship / Graphics (excluding website)
BA Design (Comm. Des)

Lee-Ann joined our team in January 2015. She looks after our sponsorship programs for the women and children at Mukti in India as well as Wings of Hope in Sri Lanka. Lee-Ann served as a short term volunteer at Mukti India for 3 months in 2014, so is known to our Indian team and many of the girls. Lee-Ann is a graphic designer by profession and brings these much needed skills to Mukti.

Helen Haythorpe - Office Administrator
Dip Youth Work, Cert IV TESOL, Cert IV TAE

Helen joined the Mukti team in February 2017 to manage the Australian office. After raising a large family Helen developed her administrative skills working in tourism and churches. Earlier on in life Helen served as a missionary in PNG and more recently joined some of her children in short term mission trips. Helen has a friendly nature and a can do attitude.

Teela Mah - NSW/ACT Regional Director
BA Early Childhood Education, Special Education

Teela joined the team in July 2016. She has worked as an Early Childhood Special Educator for 30 years. Teela was previously one of our NSW Representatives, with an Indian heritage she has visited and lived in India, including Mukti, many times. Teela is passionate about cross cultural missions and is eager to expand and develop her team as well as support in NSW and ACT.

Nicole Grimwood - Project Officer

Nicole has worked in a cross cultural setting on one of the inner city housing estates in Melbourne with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds.Nicole has been appointed to the position of Project Officer and She has a Bachelor of International Development and an Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management.

Brianna Norman - Communications Officer

Brianna has just completed her studies in Masters of International Development and she also has a Bachelor degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. She has done an internship at TEAR where she collated a report on United Nations poverty figures. She is a youth leader in a Baptist church.
