Mukti has a Library!
Thanks to our short term volunteer, Glenda Cresswick, and the generosity of many Australians, Mukti now has a library. The women and children at Mukti now have ready access to a newly created warm and inviting library space with many books provided for their enjoyment. It is a joy to watch as girls who at first picked up Marathi books to read, now venture on to reading books in English. A listening post is also proving popular, where girls can sit and listen to a book in English, and follow the text in a book in their hands.

The library becomes a reality! Australian volunteers Barbara and son, Joshua, joined Glenda in this venture and helped to build shelves and furniture as well as sort and stack books. |

Although the library is currently stocked with many English books, Mukti would also love to also supply the girls with access to more books in the local language, Marathi and Hindi. If you would like to donate towards the purchase of these books you can do so here.
